Great Book! August 31, 2010 N. Reuter (Uxbridge, MA) I'm getting ready to do a basement overhaul, and everywhere I asked, THIS was the book to buy as a reference guide. For comparison, I bought another book (the name eludes me at the moment), and it did not have nearly the detail or analysis this book has.
I'll update my review on it as I actually go through the motions but my first read-through of the book was very positive and answered a lot of questions I had in the back of my mind.
My husband is enjoying June 18, 2010 Kimberly A. Horstman (Grand Rapids, MI) Since I know nothing about construction, I will defer to my husband. He has been building his man-cave downstairs for 2 years now. The pictures in the book have been enjoyable for him and he picks the book up now and again to check out how he
has already progressed and what he may or may not do next. He likes it. It is just another tool he has added to his Handyman magazines.
Good Reference March 23, 2010 Michael A. Tomaselli (New Hampshire, USA) I think that this book is a good reference but certainly doesn't have everything you need to know. It is however a good reference for anyone wanting some ideas on how to remodel a basement.
Good starting point for novice DIYer January 21, 2010 D. Francis (Northern Illinois USA) Good book that touches all aspects of a basement finishing job. Good starting point for any novice DIYer. Author was also featured on Handyguys podcast, episodes 21 and 22, which will give you more of a background of the author.
Any review dated before Jan 5 2010 should be removed from this page January 10, 2010 cool_like_fresh (calgary, ab Canada) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
This is not a review of the book, but I would like to point out that the information in the "Revised Edition" is up to date as of Jan 5 2010. Amazon should not link these reviews to the new edition as many of the complaints are regarding the outdated insulation practices that have since been revamped.
